Wofür wir stehen.

Seit über 30 Jahren verkörpern wir eine emanzipatorische, antifaschistische, antirassistische und klar antiautoritäre Praxis. Darum stellen wir uns entschlossen gegen Rassismus, Antifeminismus, jegliche Form von Antisemitismus, Homo- und Transphobie, sowie Verschwörungsmythen und andere Unterdrückungs­mechanismen. Wir supporten emanzipative linke, soziale und kulturelle Projekte– oft unter finanziellen Einbußen.

Wir sind „nur“ eine Band, keine politische Organisation.

Trotzdem ist alles, was wir tun, politisch:
Unsere Musik soll Räume öffnen, in denen Menschen diskutieren, sich verbünden und voneinander lernen. Wir stehen der Übertragung dogmatischer politischer Standards aus innerlinken Diskursen auf Kunst- und Konzertkultur kritisch gegenüber – unsere Aufgabe sehen wir darin Räume für Verbindung und Austausch zu schaffen, nicht ideologische Hürden zu erfüllen. Trotzdem sind für uns über Jahre erkämpfte Mindeststandards für uns eine Selbstverständlichkeit und müssen geschützt werden.

Mit wachsender Sorge sehen wir nun, dass auch in linken Kontexten autoritäre Haltungen und altbekannte längst überholt geglaubte Feindbilder Hochkonjunktur bekommen und dabei sind emanzipative Räume mit autoritarismus zu besetzen. Begriffe und Symbole, die wir bisher vor allem von rechts kannten, werden plötzlich normalisiert und benutzt, um „andere“unliebsame“ linke Projekte oder Bands zu anzugreifen und zu diffamieren.

Gerade in Zeiten, in denen der Rechtsruck in der Welt unübersehbar ist … erobern nun neue (alte) autoritäre Gruppen und Ideologien erkämpfte linke Räume und bedienen eine neue Sehnsucht nach „Eindeutigkeit“. Diese Entwicklung schwächt aus unserer Sicht massiv emanzipatorische Bewegungen und verklären die Sicht auf komplexe Zusammenhänge mit ihren Vereinfachungen.

Wir wollen dass es weiterhin gemeinsame Räume und Möglichkeiten gibt für eine Welt ohne Faschismus, autoritäre Strukturen und Unterdrückung einzustehen. Wir wünschen uns eine Zeit, in der emanzipative Bewegungen nicht durch interne Spaltungen und Dogmatismus geschwächt werden und ein Guts Pie Earshot-Konzert ein Ort ist und bleibt um Kraft zu schöpfen und solidarisch zusammenzustehen.

By the way: Nationalflaggen und nationale Symbole bleiben bei unseren Shows draußen.

What We Stand For

For more than 30 years we’ve embodied an emancipatory, antifascist, antiracist and firmly antiauthoritarian practice. That’s why we take an unequivocal stand against racism, antifeminism, every form of antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, conspiracy myths and all other mechanisms of oppression. We back emancipatory left-wing, social and cultural projects—often at our own financial expense.

Yes, we’re “just” a band, not a political organization.
Still, everything we do is political: our music is meant to open spaces where people debate, connect and learn from one another. We’re critical of dragging dogmatic standards from intra-left debates into art and concert culture—our job is to build spaces for exchange, not to set up ideological hurdles. At the same time, minimum standards that were hard-won over decades are non-negotiable and must be defended.

With growing concern we now see authoritarian attitudes and outdated enemy images gaining traction even in left-wing contexts, as emancipatory spaces are colonized by authoritarianism. Terms and symbols we used to know mainly from the far right are suddenly being normalized and weaponized to smear or attack “inconvenient” leftist projects and bands.

Precisely while a global shift to the right is impossible to miss, new (old) authoritarian groups and ideologies are pushing into hard-won leftist spaces, feeding a fresh hunger for “simple certainties.” In our view, this massively weakens emancipatory movements and obscures complex realities with crude simplifications.

We want to keep creating common spaces—and possibilities—to stand up for a world free of fascism, authoritarian structures and oppression. We long for a time when emancipatory movements are not sapped by infighting and dogmatism, and when a Guts Pie Earshot show remains a place to recharge and stand together in solidarity.

By the way: national flags and national symbols stay outside our shows.
